A missing tooth does far more damage than the gap you see in the mirror. Within months of losing a tooth, the jawbone beneath it begins to shrink, neighboring teeth drift out of alignment, and chewing becomes uneven. Left untreated, those changes compound and become harder to reverse. Dental implants stop that process entirely because they replace the tooth root, not just the crown.

At Red Rock Dental in Summerlin, Dr. Alan McCaffrey offers dental implants in Las Vegas that restore both function and appearance with results that are built to last. A member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Dr. McCaffrey applies a conservative, minimally invasive approach to every case and devotes over 100 hours annually to continuing education in implant techniques. As part of our comprehensive cosmetic dental services in Las Vegas, implants represent the most complete and permanent tooth replacement solution we offer.

Dental Implants in Las Vegas & Summerlin, NV

Red Rock Dental has been serving patients in Las Vegas and Summerlin since 2004, providing dental implants that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Dr. McCaffrey’s conservative, minimally invasive approach means we focus on your long-term oral health — not unnecessary treatment. Whether you need to replace a single missing tooth or multiple teeth, we build a personalized implant plan around your specific anatomy and goals.

Missing teeth affect far more than appearance. They can lead to bone loss, shifting teeth, and difficulty chewing — all of which impact your overall health over time. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that preserves jawbone structure, making them the gold standard for lasting oral health.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium posts surgically placed into your jawbone to replace missing tooth roots. Once the implant integrates with your bone through a process called osseointegration, it provides a stable foundation for a custom crown, bridge, or denture. Unlike traditional tooth replacement options, implants stimulate your jawbone just like natural roots, preventing the bone loss that typically occurs after tooth extraction.

The implant system consists of three main components: the titanium implant post, an abutment that connects to the implant, and the final restoration. This design creates a permanent solution that can last decades with proper care. The titanium material is biocompatible, meaning your body accepts it naturally without rejection.

Types of Dental Implants

Single tooth implants replace one missing tooth without altering adjacent healthy teeth. The implant supports a custom crown matched to the color, shape, and size of your surrounding teeth. This is the most conservative option because neighboring teeth require no preparation or alteration — and it is the approach Dr. McCaffrey prefers for eligible patients.

Multiple tooth implants can replace several missing teeth using fewer implants than individual replacements would require. Two or three strategically placed implants support a bridge that spans the gap, maintaining bone structure throughout the treatment area. For patients considering their options, we often compare this approach alongside traditional dental bridges in Las Vegas to help you understand the long-term trade-offs.

Full arch restoration uses four to six implants to anchor a complete upper or lower prosthetic. This approach delivers far superior stability compared to removable dentures and requires fewer implants than replacing each tooth individually. Most patients notice an immediate improvement in chewing ability and confidence.

The Dental Implant Process

The implant process begins with a comprehensive consultation that includes digital imaging and bone density evaluation. Dr. McCaffrey reviews your full medical history, current medications, and overall oral health to confirm you are a good candidate and to plan precise implant placement. Most patients find the consultation straightforward and leave with a clear timeline and cost estimate before any treatment begins.

Implant placement is performed under local anesthesia, so the procedure itself is not painful. You may feel pressure, but discomfort is minimal. For patients with dental anxiety, we offer sedation dentistry in Summerlin to keep you calm and comfortable throughout. Most patients return to normal activity within one to two days.

Osseointegration — the process by which the titanium post fuses to your jawbone — takes three to six months. This healing phase creates the stable foundation that makes implants last decades. We provide detailed aftercare instructions and check in with you throughout this phase to support a smooth recovery.

Once osseointegration is complete, we place the abutment and attach your final crown. Our CEREC same-day crown technology in Las Vegas means we can often deliver your final restoration in a single appointment, reducing the total number of visits required.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Implants preserve jawbone structure by providing the stimulation your bone needs to maintain density. Traditional bridges and dentures don’t offer this benefit, which is why patients often experience progressive bone loss and facial changes over time. Research published in the Journal of Dental Research confirms that implant-supported restorations significantly reduce bone resorption compared to conventional prosthetics.

The stability of implants allows you to eat your favorite foods without worry about slipping or discomfort. You can bite into apples, chew steak, and enjoy corn on the cob with full confidence. This nutritional freedom supports better overall health and quality of life — something dentures simply can’t replicate.

Maintenance requirements for implants mirror those of natural teeth. Regular brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings keep your implants healthy for decades. Unlike bridges that require special flossing techniques or dentures that need adhesives and soaking solutions, implants integrate seamlessly into your daily routine.

Bone Preservation

Long-Lasting Solution

For patients without insurance, we offer flexible financing options and competitive, transparent pricing — because we believe everyone deserves access to quality dental care in Las Vegas.

Dental Implant Procedure

The dental implant procedure at our practice in Las Vegas involves several stages to ensure the best possible outcome:

  1. Consultation and Planning: During your initial visit, we will evaluate your oral health, take X-rays, and discuss your treatment options. A personalized treatment plan will be created for you.
  2. Implant Placement: The dental implant is surgically placed into the jawbone. Over the next few months, the implant will fuse with the bone through a process called osseointegration.
  3. Abutment Placement: Once the implant has integrated with the bone, an abutment is attached to the implant. This serves as a connector between the implant and the replacement tooth.
  4. Crown Placement: A custom-made crown is attached to the abutment, completing the restoration and providing a natural-looking, functional tooth.

Candidacy for Dental Implants

Ideal candidates have sufficient bone density to support implant placement and healthy gums free from active disease. Age is rarely a limiting factor, as we successfully place implants in patients from their twenties through their nineties. Your overall health matters more than your specific age.

Certain medical conditions may affect implant success rates. Uncontrolled diabetes can impair healing, while some medications may interfere with osseointegration. We review your complete medical history to identify any factors that might influence your treatment outcome.

Lifestyle factors also influence implant success. Smoking significantly increases complication risks and can lead to implant failure. We provide resources and support to help patients quit smoking before beginning treatment, improving their chances of long-term success.

Dental Implants vs. Dental Bridges

Patients in Las Vegas often compare dental implants and dental bridges. While both are effective for replacing missing teeth, dental implants offer several advantages:

Dental Implants

Provide a permanent solution without affecting adjacent teeth. They also help preserve jawbone density.

Dental Bridges

Typically require adjacent teeth to be filed down for support. They do not stimulate the jawbone, which can lead to bone loss over time.

Dental Implants in Las Vegas — Frequently Asked Questions

How much do dental implants cost in Las Vegas?
A single dental implant in Las Vegas typically ranges from $3,000 to $5,000, depending on whether additional procedures such as bone grafting are needed. At Red Rock Dental, we provide a detailed cost estimate during your consultation with Dr. McCaffrey and offer flexible financing options to make treatment accessible. We also work with most major insurance providers to maximize your benefit coverage.
Does the dental implant procedure hurt?
Implant placement is performed under local anesthesia, so you should not feel pain during the procedure — only mild pressure. For patients with dental anxiety, we offer sedation dentistry in Summerlin to keep you comfortable throughout. Post-procedure soreness is typically manageable with over-the-counter pain relief, and most patients return to normal activity within one to two days.
How long does the dental implant process take?
The full process takes three to six months from implant placement to final crown attachment. Most of that time is the healing phase (osseointegration) where the titanium post fuses with your jawbone. The surgical placement appointment itself takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes. With our CEREC same-day crown technology, the final restoration step can often be completed in a single visit.
Am I a good candidate for dental implants?
Most adults with missing teeth are good candidates for implants, provided they have adequate jawbone density and healthy gums with no active disease. Age is rarely a barrier — we place implants in patients from their twenties through their nineties. Conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes or heavy smoking can affect healing and may require additional evaluation. Dr. McCaffrey performs a thorough assessment including digital imaging to determine the right approach for your specific situation.
How long do dental implants last?
With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. The titanium post is designed to be permanent; the crown attached to it may need replacement after 10 to 15 years due to normal wear. Regular brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings are all that is needed to maintain your implants long term.
What is the difference between dental implants and dentures?
Dental implants are permanently anchored into the jawbone and function exactly like natural teeth — no adhesives, no slipping, no removal at night. They also preserve jawbone density, which removable dentures do not. Dentures are a lower upfront cost but require ongoing adjustments and replacements over time. For patients who are good candidates, implants offer a more durable and comfortable long-term solution. We offer both options and can help you determine the best fit during your consultation.
