When a damaged tooth threatens your smile and daily comfort, waiting weeks for a traditional crown can feel overwhelming. CEREC same-day crowns eliminate that anxious waiting period by creating and placing your custom restoration in a single visit, allowing you to leave our office with a fully restored tooth in just hours.

At Red Rock Dental, Dr. Alan McCaffrey and Dr. Thomas Booker use advanced CEREC technology to design, mill, and place high-quality ceramic crowns while you wait. This innovative approach combines precision digital imaging with state-of-the-art milling equipment, ensuring you receive a perfectly fitted, durable restoration without the inconvenience of temporary crowns or multiple appointments.

Cerec Same Day Dental Crowns Las Vegas

CEREC or Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics is a dental restoration that helps in replacing a damaged or missing tooth. The process involves the fabrication of a ceramic crown in the dentist’s office. This procedure saves a lot of time, thus, allowing you to get your damaged or missing teeth restored in the same day.

What is Cerec?

CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration using Esthetic Ceramics, is the foremost technological advancement when it comes to same-day dental restorations. It is the most advanced means of fabricating dental restorations using CAD/CAM technology, which makes the restorations very precise in terms of contour and size. It allows them to provide a perfect fit, which keeps them from getting displaced or causing discomfort to the patient.

Understanding CEREC Technology

CEREC is a revolutionary advancement in restorative dentistry. This computer-assisted design and manufacturing system captures detailed 3D images of your tooth, creates a digital model, and mills your crown from a solid block of ceramic material right in our office. The entire process typically takes two to three hours, transforming what once required multiple visits into a seamless single-appointment experience.

The precision of CEREC technology often surpasses traditional impression methods. Digital scanning eliminates the discomfort of messy impression materials while providing more accurate measurements than conventional techniques. This enhanced accuracy translates to better-fitting crowns that require minimal adjustments and provide superior long-term comfort.

The Same-Day Crown Process

Your CEREC crown appointment begins with a thorough examination and preparation of the affected tooth. After administering local anesthesia for your comfort, we carefully remove any damaged or decayed portions and shape the tooth to accommodate the crown. This preparation creates the ideal foundation for your restoration.

Next, we use the CEREC scanner to capture detailed digital impressions of your prepared tooth and surrounding area. This process takes only minutes and provides incredibly precise measurements that serve as the blueprint for your custom crown. The digital data is then transferred to our in-office milling unit.

While your crown is being precisely crafted from high-quality ceramic material, you can relax in our comfortable office. The milling process generally takes 15 to 20 minutes, during which the machine carves your crown to exact specifications. Once complete, we carefully examine the crown for proper fit and make any necessary adjustments before permanently cementing it to your tooth.

Benefits of Choosing Same-Day Crowns

Same-day crowns have many advantages over traditional crown procedures. The most obvious benefit is convenience – you receive your permanent restoration in a single visit, eliminating the need for temporary crowns and follow-up appointments. This approach is particularly valuable for busy patients or those who experience anxiety about multiple dental visits.

The quality of CEREC crowns matches or exceeds that of laboratory-made restorations. These crowns are crafted from durable ceramic materials that closely match the color and translucency of natural teeth, providing excellent aesthetics and functionality. The precise fit achieved through digital technology often results in better long-term outcomes and reduced sensitivity.

Additionally, same-day crowns eliminate the common issues associated with temporary restorations. Temporary crowns can become loose, fall out, or cause discomfort during the waiting period between appointments. With CEREC technology, you avoid these complications entirely while maintaining your normal eating and speaking patterns throughout the treatment process.

Ideal Candidates for CEREC Crowns

CEREC same-day crowns are great for most patients requiring crown restoration. Common situations that benefit from this technology include:

  • Significant decay: A crown is essential for protecting and strengthening a tooth when decay is too extensive for a standard filling.
  • Cracked or fractured teeth: Crowns effectively protect damaged teeth from further deterioration while restoring full function and appearance.
  • Large existing fillings: Teeth with large fillings that show signs of wear or failure often benefit from crown protection to prevent future complications.
  • Root canal treatment: Teeth that have undergone root canal therapy typically require crown protection due to their increased fragility.

The versatility of CEREC technology allows us to treat both front and back teeth effectively. However, we evaluate each case individually to ensure that same-day crowns represent the most appropriate treatment option for your specific situation.

What Are the Advantages of Choosing CEREC?

1.

CEREC restorations are extremely accurate in terms of aesthetics and fit. The dentist would rarely have to make further modifications to their structure once they retrieve them from the computerized milling machine.

2.

The mold of the teeth to serve as a reference is created using digital scanning, as opposed to biting into a gooey substance in conventional means. It provides more accurate data, which in turn makes the restorations more precisely shaped.

3.

The restorations can be customized with respect to the color, texture, and translucency to match that of the natural teeth.

4.

Most importantly, the entire procedure of scanning the teeth, inputting the data to the CEREC machine, fabricating the dental restorations, and bonding them to the teeth can be completed in a single visit to the dentist’s practice.

Comparing CEREC to Traditional Crown Methods

Traditional crown procedures require at least two appointments separated by one to two weeks. During the first visit, we prepare your tooth and take impressions that are sent to an off-site laboratory. A temporary crown protects your tooth while the permanent restoration is being crafted. The second appointment involves removing the temporary crown and cementing the permanent one.

While traditional methods produce excellent results, they present several inconveniences. Temporary crowns can be uncomfortable, may affect your ability to eat certain foods, and occasionally come loose or fall out. The waiting period between appointments can also be stressful, particularly if sensitivity or discomfort occurs.

CEREC technology eliminates these concerns while providing comparable or superior results. According to the American Dental Association, the success rates of CEREC crowns are excellent, with proper care allowing them to last many years. The convenience factor, combined with the elimination of temporary crown issues, makes same-day crowns an attractive option for many patients.

At Red Rock Dental, we make urgent care accessible — You can pay out of pocket with cash or credit card.

What is the Procedure of CEREC?

The procedure of CEREC is simple and directly involves chairside work, which means you can get your damaged or missing teeth restored in one day. The dentist starts by removing the decay from your teeth and taking digital impressions of it. Since it is a digital process, it gives you an exact view and shows you what your restoration will look like. It will be sent to a computer-aided milling machine, which will make your crown in just a few minutes and the dentist fits it to your tooth. The process takes less than an hour and is absolutely painless.

  • The process of CEREC saves more than 75% time as compared to traditional methods used by dentists to restore teeth.
  • It is a painless procedure that can be completed within just one visit to the dentist’s office only.
  • It helps in restoring both cosmetic and functional issues of the tooth.
  • The material used to fabricate crowns is highly durable and strong, which keeps it from cracking or breaking easily.

Caring for Your CEREC Crown

Proper care ensures your CEREC crown provides years of reliable service. Maintain excellent oral hygiene by brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and flossing regularly around the crown area. While CEREC crowns are extremely durable, avoid using your teeth as tools or chewing on hard objects like ice or pen caps.

Regular dental checkups and cleanings remain essential for monitoring your crown and maintaining overall oral health. During these visits, we examine the crown for any signs of wear or complications and provide professional cleaning to prevent plaque buildup around the restoration.

Most patients find their CEREC crowns feel completely natural within a few days of placement. Any initial sensitivity typically resolves quickly as your mouth adjusts to the restoration. If you experience persistent discomfort or have concerns about your crown, contact our office promptly for evaluation.
